BUY GROCERIES? PURCHASE THINGS ONLINE??

We have two ways – yes 2 ways – that you can earmark funds to go to the Metropolitan Community Foundation:

eScrip
Do you use your debit card? How often do you use your ATM card? MasterCard, Visa, Discover or Amex?? Of course, we all do; not many of us carry cash these days.

Friends, family and allies of MCF are encouraged to register their credit, debit and grocery club cards as supporters with the eScrip program. Upon receipt of registration, a percentage of all purchases made at eScrip merchants will be given back to the Foundation.

It’s easy to register: go to http://www.escrip.com/, and click “sign up”. Either type in Metropolitan Community Foundation, or use group ID 500000052. Follow all the steps to confirm your selections – and, voila, you’re done!!!

What’s the cost to you – nothing. What’s the benefit to MCF – a percentage of purchases are automatically contributed by the merchant – on average, 4%.

Freepledge
Do you shop online?? At Amazon, Ebay, Orbitz, Staples, Hotels.com? Well, now you can donate to the Metropolitan Community Foundation – when you shop online!! There are over 185 online retailers in the Freepledge program from which to shop. And, it’s really easy to register!!

Here’s how it works … you go to http://www.freepledge.com/, and click “sign up”. They will ask for your usual registration information, and you get the option of which non-profit you would like to have your donations go to … just type in MCF and click the “select” button. Done. Instead of going to your regular online sites, just go back to freepledge.com and then select your retailer. It will then launch over to their site. You do your purchase just like normal. At the end of your transaction, it will tell you how much money will be sent to MCF. That’s it!!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Would you like to help out? Have you helped us in the past? Do you have some extra time? Both Simply Supper and the Prevention Point Brown Bag programs need volunteers to support and assist the preparation and serving of food to our guests.

We have specific needs for volunteers:

Tuesday Evenings – Brown Bag Program 5:30pm – 6:30pm at Duboce & Church
We need assistants to help hand out sack dinners with our volunteer lead, Al at Duboce & Church Streets, behind Safeway. The need is critical to find one or two, possibly three people who can be consistent with the program.

Friday Mornings – Brown Bag preparation 10am-12pm at St. Francis Lutheran
The Prevention Point Brown Bag preparation has moved its location and consolidated with Simply Supper team at St. Francis Lutheran Church, 152 Church Street on Friday mornings between 10am – 12pm. If you can volunteer to help make sandwiches and prepare brown bag meals, we need 5-6 volunteers consistently with this task.

Friday Mornings – Simply Supper 10am-4pm at St. Francis Lutheran
We regularly need volunteers to help prepare, serve and host our weekly Simply Supper meal at St. Francis Lutheran Church. The meals prepared by Mothers Kitchen are phenomenal – a vegetarian gourmet experience. MCF and Mothers Kitchen use only professionally trained chefs to prepare the meals. Volunteers have the opportunity to share in the mean.

BUON APPETITO!!

HOW TO VOLUNTEER

If you can Volunteer for any of these opportunities –please call the MCF Office at 415-865-2752.

October Harvest Festival
Enjoy a lovely fall afternoon in the garden.
